2010 Plymouth Wildcat Swimming and Diving Team Rules
- All the rules that are included in the PCCS athlete and parent handbook apply to our team. To read these rules, please go to the PCCS website.
- All athletes are expected to comply with any rasonable direction given to them from all coaches and adult school personnel. Failure to comply with a reasonable request will result in the athlete's immediate removal from practice or the contest for the day.
- Parents are allowed and welcome to sit in the bleachers and observe practice at any time. Parents will remain in the spectator area during a meet.
- Coaches are not available to communicate with parents about concerns or complaints prior to, during, or directly after practice or contests. Parents who wish to communicate with Coach Schade may do so via the following email address: dougschade@live.com and by scheduling an appointment with Coach Schade via email. Parents should not directly address any assistant coaches with concerns about the program - these concerns must be voiced with Coach Schade only. All emails will be returned within two business days. Appointments will be scheduled during a time that is acceptable to Coach Schade and will not interfere with practice or meet time unless deemed permissible by the head coach. Any parent who chooses to break this rule will be reminded of this rule and asked to leave the deck. If the parent refuses to leave the deck, the coach may choose to end practice until the disruption has ended.
Attendance Policy and Consequences
- All athletes are expected to attnd all practices and contests for the group they are assigned to for the season.
- Athletes will be allowed to miss two (2) practices for unexcused reasons during the season.
- The only reasons that are excused are illness, family tragedy and family vacations.
- After the athlete has two unexcused absences, the consequence for missing practice is as follows: the athlete will not participate in one contest of the coaches' choice for every missed practice.
- Swimmers who do not attend a contest due to illness must notify the coaching staff prior to the contest. Failure to do so may result in the athlete's dismissal from the team. Coach Schade's email addresses are schade@monroe.k12.mi.us or dougschade@live.com. Our staff requests notification of an illness that will keep the athlete out of a performance because the coaches need time to plan line-ups for the contest. The sooner our staff is aware of an illness, the easier it will be for us to plan not to include that athlete in the line-up.
- Swimmers who are not on time for practice are tardy. A tardy will count as 1/4 of an unexcused absence.
- Swimmers who are more than 20 minutes late for a contest's warm-up will be considered absent and will be scratched from the meet unless a prior arrangement has been agreed upon by the athlete and the coaching staff.
- Swimmers who are late to meet a bus for an away contest will be left at school and scrathed from the line-up for that contest.
- Swimmers are expected to finish the season in good standing. This includes attendance at the conference and state meet. Any swimmer who fails to finish the season will not receive her letter.
Additional Transportation Rules
- When provided, athletes must ride the school bus to and from all contests.
- Unless other arrangements are made, parents need to pick up their athlete when they are dropped off at Plymouth. It is the parents' responsibility to be waiting in the parking lot to take their athlete home. If the coaches have to wait more than 20 minutes in the parking lot with your athlete, she will not be allowed to attend away contests. We will have a phone tree to alert parents when the bus is approximately 20 minutes away from Plymouth High School.
- All away contests will leave and arrive at Plymouth High School, outside the wrestling room doors.
